Sod for instant turf, seed where it makes more sense, and the soil work underneath that makes either one actually take. Bare spots, thin lawns, freshly graded ground, builder-grade dirt: we build the lawn the right way so it's still there in year three.
01 · What's included
Most failed lawns aren't a seed problem; they're a soil problem. We start under the surface, then put down turf or seed once the ground is ready to hold it.
02 · When to do it
Cool-season fescue goes down best in fall (late September through October), with early spring as the backup. Warm-season Bermuda sod establishes through late spring and summer once the soil warms up. Put the wrong grass down in the wrong window and you're paying to do it twice.
Sod gives you an instant lawn and works on slopes where seed would wash away. Seed costs less and suits larger areas, but it needs patience and steady water. We'll tell you straight which one your yard, budget, and timeline actually call for, no upsell to sod when seed would do.
New construction is its own case: builder-grade soil is usually compacted subsoil with no topsoil left. We fix the ground before anything green goes down.
The best time to lay sod here is early fall, but the calendar fills up fast. Get a quote on the books now and we'll schedule the work for the right window. (And yes, it can still hit 90° in October around here — we plan for that.)
03 · Pricing
Sod, seeding, and yard development are priced by square footage, how much soil prep the ground needs, and material. A flat half-acre reseed and a graded new-build sod install are not the same job. We walk the yard, pull a soil read, and quote a fixed scope, free.
